宾州州立银行 celebrates Black History Month

WYOMISSING,爸爸. — In honor of Black History Month, the 宾州州立银行 campus community will host a slate of events throughout 2月ruary. 

 

周六,2月. 10, 10 p.m. – 12 midnight – Boogie Down Skate Party  

Skateaway (2275 Lancaster Pike, Shillington, PA) 

The Black Student Union is sponsoring this event. Tickets are $8 presale, $15 at the door. This event is open to the public. 

 

星期三,2月. 14、中午12点到下午3点.m. – 道格拉斯的一天 2024 Transcribe-a-thon

道格拉斯的一天 is an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick Douglass. 每年, thousands of people gather to help create new and freely available resources for learning about Black history. This year’s event features Douglass' correspondence from the Library of Congress. Event participants will attempt to transcribe all 8,731 (digitized) pages of his correspondence in one day. Presented by Penn State’s Center for Black Digital 研究, a partnership of the College of the Liberal Arts and the University Libraries, and the Library of Congress. This event is open to faculty, staff, students and community members.

Perkins Student Center

The Black Student Union will host this event, which celebrates success and honors the achievements of those within our community. This event is free but pre-registration is required

2月. 23, 5:30–7:30 p.m. – Being Black at 博克斯 

Perkins Student Center Auditorium 

The Black Student Union will present its fifth anniversary showcase, highlighting the talents of African American students at 宾州州立银行. This event is free and open to the public, and it will include poetry, musical performances, arts and culture displays in the Freyberger Gallery, 校友小组, and a hair and skin expo.
